- off-the-film metering
- An advanced and very accurate form of exposure measurement offered by many good cameras off-the-film metering measures the light reflected by the unexposed film inside your camera.
- opening up
- Opening up your lens means choosing a wider aperture to allow more light to reach your film. If you switch your aperture to a lower f number eg from f4 to f2.8 you increase the amount of light that reaches your film.
- overexposure
- Cameras (and photographers) sometimes make mistakes and allow too much light onto your film. This is called overexposure and makes your negatives dark and indistinct. When these negatives are processed they produce pale washed-out prints. The opposite of overexposure is underexposure.
