negatives
All photographic film ending with the word 'colour' eg Fujicolour or Kodacolour is developed into negatives when processed. These are mirror images of your original pictures except that light and dark areas are reversed. Colour negatives have an overall orange tone due to the dye used to help with colour printing.
noise (digital noise)
Like grain in photographic film speckled digital noise is a by-product of shooting a picture with a high ISO speed. When too little light passes onto your CCD sensor brightly coloured pixels are created by mistake and lots of these together are called noise. You are most likely to see them in the shadowy areas of your digital pictures.
