- Macro is another word for extreme close-up photography. Not all cameras allow you to focus on objects that are very close but those with macro lenses let you get near smaller objects such as flowers for very detailed pictures. You are more prone to camera shake and blurring when focusing for an extreme close-up so a steady hand is essential.

- Some cameras allow you to take complete control of exposure by setting your own aperture and shutter speeds manually. You can be more creative if you understand how different aperture and shutter speeds affect the way your photographs look.
- Matchprint
- A Matchprint is a printers Contract Proof made from the same halftone negative film that will be used to burn the actual offset printing plates. It is called a contract proof because the printer promises to be able to make the printed page match the Matchprint. Other similar contract proofing media are FujiPrint PressMatch and Cromalin Proofs.
- megapixel
- A megapixel is a measurement of the number of pixels a digital camera can generate. Digital photos are made of pixels arranged in a chessboard-like grid called a bitmap. A bitmap photo measuring 18001200 pixels contains 2.1 million pixels (18001200 = 2.1 million) and is taken by a 2.1 megapixel camera. Mega in this respect is another word for million.
