- index print
- An index print shows your full set of pictures in miniature on one piece of photo paper. Good for ordering reprints and quickly checking which pictures are best index prints come as standard with APS film processing. 35mm film users need to ask for an index print as an extra.
- Indexed Colour
- A type of colour file that uses only one channel and assigns one of 256 colours to a pixel. Sort of like Paint-by-Numbers approach to colour. The quality is poor... but the files are really small... good for the web.
- Ink Jet
- Ink jet printers spit out very tiny spots of ink onto paper. The new Epsom printers delivering 1400 x 700 dpi with improved 6 colour ink cartridges produce exceptional results. Properly profiled they produce proofs that are almost contract proof quality. The fifth and sixth colours are lighter Cyan and Magenta inks.
- inkjet printer
- You can use inkjet printers to print digital photographs at home. They work by spraying special paper with tiny droplets of ink which blend together when viewed from a distance. The best inkjet printers use a five colour ink cartridge.
- Interpolation
- is the process wherein the software calculates the new value of a pixel based on an examination of the surrounding pixels.
- ISO speed (or film speed)
- Photographic film is ranked by its sensitivity to light which is known as film speed. Only use medium-speed ISO 100 film in bright light conditions. ISO 400 film is a much safer bet as you can use it in both bright and low-light conditions.
